Virtual Signaling*

We live an atomized existence.  The system we live in is basically an economic one, and we are all units of production within this system.  We go to work and go home, stopping at the store on the way home to pick up groceries.  Once home, we are isolated in those homes (unless we happen to have a family, which is becoming less and less of a norm).  Isolated and alone in our homes the path of least resistance seems to be to sit in front of our computers and get sucked into the rabbit hole.

Having disappeared down the rabbit hole, naturally you will come out on the other side.  You are now living in an alternate universe.  You still live your normal life, but your perception of the world is different.  You will come in contact with other people who have also taken the deep dive down into the rabbit hole, and you will recognize this in each other.  You will also come into contact with people who haven't yet taken the leap into the great unknown, and it is odd how you can both simultaneously experience two different realities.  They will not understand the world the way you do, and they will look down on you.  Let them be.  It's no use.  It would be like trying to explain to a deaf person what music sounds like.

There is a third type of person, and this type is rare.  These people went down the rabbit hole, experienced what it was like on the other side, and then returned.  Perhaps they wanted to be accepted by the world again.  I can't understand this type of person, but they exist.
